WOW. You did such a good job, I almost hate to ask, but... Do you take requests? ;-)

I don't see anything with John Wayne on the list, and one of my favorite quotes is from She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (paraphrased): "You might make FIRST Lieutenant MISTER Penell - in 10 or 12 years..."

I can't imagine moving Citizen Kane or Ghostbusters off the list, but if there are other numbers/quotes available...

I think you missed out on another classic by not starting with 101 Dalmatians...

Great job, though.

You sir, are my hero.

This is so far removed from the usual trash that ACE puts on his site, that I suspect a mistake....

you, sir, rock immmensely well.

Thanks!

Oh, Chris, your killing me here.

I don't think I have the energy to do a remix. But I'll tell you what I'll do. My next clip show will definitely include one clip of the Duke, maybe more. I'll see if I can include She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, but only if I can find a scene that will fit the next clipshow's theme.

And that's all I'm sayin' about that.

Oh, and please have The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy in the next one! I was absolutely SHOCKED to find the 42 was given to something else.

(Though Finding Nemo is certainly an awesome movie)

Thats the classiest countdown in a long while (such excellent choice for so many of the numbers)

Brilliant montage! I’m wondering how you did it. If it was me, I would start with really famous ones where I knew the number (#50, #44, and #11, for example), then I would think of ones where I knew there was a number but didn’t remember what it was, like the roulette number Bogie said to play in Casablanca, and Charlton Heston’s number on the slave ship in Ben Hur, and the speed the DeLorean had to reach in BTTF. Very cool. Thinking of alternatives—how about “The Ox-Bow Incident” when the sheriff asks who was involved in the lynching, and the preacher replies “All but seven”. Love the choice for #2. There was actually a lot of numbers in that movie. Bronson: “So you like music, and you can count. All the way up to two.” Robards: “All the way up to six if I have to, and maybe faster than you”. Also Bronson: “Your friends have a high mortality rate, Frank. First three, then two”. And again Bronson: “this morning at the train station I saw three of those dusters. Inside the dusters there were three men. Inside the men there were three bullets”.

You just saved me so much time because I know I would have tried to figure it all out.

Thank you,

Awesome job! Just ONE suggestion, if you're going to remix it:

9: Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Principal Rooney "Ferris has missed school NINE TIMES.."

Alonzo, you have my gratitude just for not telling me to go eff myself. :-) I await your next opus with buckets of anticipation.

forgot one......Jaws

"25.....3 tons of him"

Great job...100 numbers from 100 CLASSIC flims!

Well, a fun challenge for other people would be to try to come up with another hundred....numbers have already gone up here, sports movies like Chariots of Fire, Prefontaine, Babe and Cool Runnings are littered with all sorts of numbers as they refer to years in which they're competing, stats, etc.

Fantastic job. Wish you have the list here in descending order so that we could quickly go back and forth to check.

Brilliant compilation! I am simply bowled over!!

Lance Black said...

So much fun, I want to go watch all those movies again :D Thankyou.

At about the halfway point my brain began furiously anticipating upcoming number references.

LotR was great as a finale, but surely it is trumped by the simple elegance of:

Highlander

"There can only be one."

Thanks again!

I hereby gently remind everyone that the title of the movie is "Cast Away," referring to what happened to the fellow, not "Castaway," the noun.

Really awesome collection. The Academy should have you put together one of their billion montage sequences next year. Thanks for the treat!

Wonderfull job, but u forgot some classics as 84 Charing Cross Road, Tha Graduate, Zorba,Papillon, A man called horse,Harold and Maude, Cinema Paradiso, and others.
The 100 are quite impossible to nominate.
Best regards

#43!

That was wonderful! I hope you pay attention to how many hits you get and let it inspire you to make a career with this. We need more people like you making media. Brilliant!

That was pretty cool. But 42 wasn't from The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Also, it'd be cool if you used Hans Gruber's line in Die Hard: "I will count to 3, there will not be a 4." Well, it's just me as Die Hard is IMO the best action film ever.

Konrad Roeder said...

Thanks for the YouTube. It was fabulous. I look forward to your finishing the whole project some day.

If you make another one, Don Adams is agent 86 in Get Smart.

And in the Prisoner, number two says "By the time we finish with him, he won't know whether he's Number 6 or the cube root of infinity."

In Repo Man "Find one in every car. You'll see." referring to the pine scent car freshners.

NIce job but your number 15 is bad bad bad.. We Need Phil Silvers and his counting around the circle of travellers from It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World Under the Big W to divide the money ...
Please ???????? !!!!!

Loved it, loved it, loved it.... this coming from someone who remixes video all day long....

Amazing job!

I have to agree with the number 42 comments, but when doing something this grand, it's impossible not to leave something out...

GREAT work.

That was really cool. Thanks! I haven't seen Hitch Hiker's Guide, but I notice it comes up frequently in responses to your montage. Guess I'll have to check it out.

Thanks to Ebert for posting your URL so that I could watch your compilation and add some classics to my list of movies worth seeing.

Although I don't remember any direct quotes stating numbers, I'm betting 12 Angry Men and The Dirty Dozen have numbers in them (although they may overlap on 12, they're both great classics!).

I would also love to see Planes Trains and Automobiles along with Groundhog Day and Caddyshack, but I bet you're busy with everyone else's requests (plus having a life) too. :)

Thanks again!

Absolutely wonderful! Thanks for your great work - and special thanks for the list. I did. just. have to. know.

siegler said...

Great idea. That sound is thousands of people smacking their heads wondering why they didn't think of it first. I'd suggest adding the number referenced in the corner though. It's easy to lose track.

Anonymous said...

That was fantastic!

Add me to the list of people who were shocked (shocked!) that 42 wasn't from HGTG -- and mildly surprised (but not disappointed) that you didn't pull 76 from The Music Man.

Just amazing - well done!

Robocop for 20 if you happen to do another remix.

'20 seconds to comply!'

Fabulous

Excellent video.

Anonymous said...

Is it just me, or is the audio clip for "50" actually saying "58"? If so, I'm sure the "slip-up" was intentional on your part, given the overall brilliance of your work. Wonderful idea, wonderful execution!

Alonzo Mosley (FBI) said...

A lot of people have thought he said "58", but he actually says "fifty eggs".

I would have loved for it to be 58, because it took me quite awhile to find that number before I came across "Goldfinger". :)

Anonymous said...

What about the matrix for "the one"...it was parodied like mad for that, hahaha...very creative video!

Anonymous said...

Sir,
Excellent. Well done. I am completely impressed. One comment - I think you made a mistake. 64 - could that be 'World According to Garp'? Or maybe it is valid for both movies....
Regardless, I greatly appreciate your effort and work. Excellent selections all around.

Alonzo Mosley (FBI) said...

The song "When I'm 64" was indeed used in "The World According to Garp" in the opening credits, but it also appeared in the Beatles animated movie "Yellow Submarine".

Anonymous said...

Your picks of movies show great taste. Good job.

Anonymous said...

Great job. It was fun predicting what clip would be for the numbers as they counted down.

50 - Cool Hand Luke was a must

There are so many others and I'm sure you could do a sequel made of entirely different clips.

There are probably 100 clips just for "#1".

Anonymous said...

I know it's a common mistake, but the title of #28 is "The Bridge On the River Kwai." If you see the end of the movie, you know why it's called that.

Anonymous said...

Minor corrections here... three of the movie's names are incorrect for the same reason:

Blade Runner
Cast Away
Rain Man

But not Gold Finger ;)

Anonymous said...

Hahaha, I like the "please don't sue me," at the end.
